University
Medical Center Improves Security of Critical Healthcare
Network With Cisco® Security MARS
Duke
Medicine, is the largest health network in North Carolina,
encompassing three major teaching hospitals, a medical
school, a nursing school, and 60 clinics. The organization
supports voice-over-IP, ubiquitous wireless access,
digitized clinical records systems, a picture archiving
and communications system that can deliver high-resolution
diagnostic images anywhere on the network, and centralized
clinical applications that can be accessed by physicians
and residents from anywhere on or off a medical campus.
However, while Duke Medicine’s state-of-the-art
network offers enormous potential for enhancing patient
care, it also presents a security challenge.
