Managing Virtual Desktops is Not the Same as Managing Virtual Servers

Since virtual machines are used in both server virtualization and desktop virtualization, some administrators try to use the same tool to monitor the performance of both environments. However, there distinct differences between server virtualization and desktop virtualization.
This presentation covers the basic components of a virtual desktop architecture and compares this with a virtualized server environment to highlight why a virtual server monitoring solution is not directly applicable to a desktop virtualization environment. The speaker defines what an ideal monitoring solution for both virtual environments should look like, and includes some real-world customer examples of such a solution in action.
