World Wide Technology and Elanco recently joined forces for an Early in Career AI Day—a day designed to inspire, connect and equip emerging talent for the AI-driven future. Co-organised by Isabella Brooker and Eleni Georgiades with Elanco partners Yasir Mo, Connor Stringer, and Charlie Hamerston-Budgen, the event blended practical learning, industry insight, and genuine community building.

Setting the stage

The day began with an overview of WWT's Associate Academy and Elanco's corporate landscape, setting the stage for how WWT invests in early talent. Followed by a creative AI Emoji Decoder icebreaker that sparked curiosity and collaboration right from the start.

Big ideas, real impact

Keynote speaker Jas Binning unpacked the Technology Hype Curve, brought the AI landscape to life, and shared how the right skills and mindset can help early-career professionals thrive in a rapidly evolving field.

Industry voices, real-world lessons

A lively panel moderated by Rakesh Patel featured voices from both organisations, including:

  • Calum Bell – Elanco Enterprise Architect, AI & Platforms
  • Mary Tulokas – Elanco IT Engineering Director
  • Tony Peretti – WWT Chief AI Advisor
  • Terry Frost – WWT Europe Sales Engineering Director

They discussed where Elanco is investing in AI, how WWT helps customers realise AI's potential, and where AI adoption is accelerating.

Key takeaways: responsible AI matters, cross-disciplinary teams win, and adaptability is a career superpower.

Beyond the office

To cap the learning with some friendly competition, a fast-paced quiz focused on the day was held. The day closed at The Cube for some friendly competition and deeper networking in a relaxed setting.

Why it matters

This wasn't just an event—it was a launchpad. By connecting early-career professionals with industry leaders and real-world AI strategies, WWT and Elanco showcased the power of partnership and the potential of emerging talent.

For co‑hosts Isabella Brooker and Eleni Georgiades, the experience was as developmental as it was community‑building. Being entrusted to organize and lead a joint initiative of this scale speaks to the confidence WWT and Elanco place in their emerging talent—and to the culture of ownership, learning and inclusion that defines both organizations.

Special thanks to Katie Thomas, Teresa Nicastro, Julia Whetlor and Sam Brennan-Ward for their behind-the-scenes contributions in making the day a success.
