Event Overview

Join WWT's LGBTQIA+ PRIDE Employee Resource Group in celebration of Pride Month for a special WWT Speaker Series event with Chely Wright on June 15th at 12:00pm CT. Wright rose to fame in the 90s as a commercial country singer and since released 8 studio albums and charted more than 15 singles on the Billboard charts. The Academy of Country Music named Wright "Top New Female Vocalist of 1995." Her first hit came in 1997 with "Shut Up and Drive," followed two years later by her first #1 single, "Single White Female," and again in 2005 with "The Bumper of my SUV." Wright made history by being the first country music star to publicly come out as gay in her 2010 memoir entitled "Like Me," and her Emmy nominated documentary "Chely Wright – Wish Me Away." In addition to her music career, Wright has been a fierce advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community and is now the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Unispace, a company focused on revolutionizing the creation of workplace.

Rhonda has been in the technology industry for over 30 years. She has been an advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights since the early 90s and leads the PRIDE ERG at WWT. Rhonda is a Regional Manager in the GES organization and based out of Los Angeles. She is also an award winning producer of documentary films and was Executive Producer on Chely's Emmy-nominated biographical documentary titled "Chely Wright - Wish Me Away." Rhonda will be interviewing Chely for this special Speakers Series event.
