Cisco UCS Training

Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) is a next-generation data center platform that unites computing, network, storage access and virtualization into a cohesive system designed to reduce total cost of ownership and increase business agility.

WWT’s one-day, hands-on Cisco UCS training class will demonstrate the advanced functionality of the UCS environment and show you how you can use UCS to consolidate and centralize your server environments. Attendees will build a functional data center system using Cisco UCS components.

The training will include a complete overview of Cisco UCS hardware, architecture and performance characteristics, including an in-depth discussion of UCS integration with network and SAN design. You will also have in-depth discussions about the management of virtualized infrastructure, as well as the interrelationship, physical and logical connectivity of data center components.

Hands-on Labs:

  • Configuration of Cisco UCS from the ground up. A completely new UCS system will be designed, set up and configured from scratch by the class.
  • UCS manager familiarization
  • Pools, templates and policies
  • Service profile creation (boot from local disk and installation of ESX 5.x)
  • Service profile creation (boot from SAN and installation of ESX 5.x)
  • Service profile template creation
  • Configuration of organization and role-based access within UCS

Cisco Nexus Series Switches Training

Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, 2000 and 1000V Series Switches deliver high speed Ethernet and unified fabric in the data center and virtual data center, providing an end-to-end solution for data center core, aggregation, access layer and virtual access layer as well as high-density end-of-row and top-of-rack server connectivity in a single platform.

WWT’s one-day, hands-on Nexus training class will demonstrate how to design and create the network foundation you need for your next-generation network. Learn about Unified Fabric with Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), Fabric Path, Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV), Virtual Port Channels (VPCs) and other features, which are revolutionizing and changing network design and architecture. You’ll learn about the advanced feature sets of the Cisco NX-OS data center operating system and how it compares and contrasts to Cisco IOS. You’ll also perform hands on labs on the Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, 2000 and 1000v Series Switches.

Training may include the following topics:

  • Basic NX-OS Architecture, Operation, Features, Licensing, Setup and Configuration
  • Basic Management Configuration of the Nexus 5K, including In-Band and Out-of-Band Management Concepts as well as Configuration and Discussion of the Management and Default VRF
  • Roll-Based Access Control (RBAC) Setup and Configuration
  • Fabric Extender (FEX) Architecture and Connectivity of Nexus 2K to the 5K
  • Network Architecture Using Virtual Port Channels (VPCs) will be Discussed and Configured
  • Storage Configuration on Nexus 5K
  • Virtual Device Contexts (VDCs) will be Discussed and Configured
  • FCoE Configuration and Guidelines
  • Fibre Channel Switch
  • Port Channels, VRFs, etc.

Cisco ACI Training

Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) in the data center is a holistic architecture with centralized automation and policy-driven application profiles. ACI delivers software flexibility with the scalability of hardware performance.

WWT’s one-day, hands-on Cisco ACI training class demonstrates the advanced functionality of ACI and shows you how you can use ACI to affect policy-based provisioning for your data center network. Attendees will use the ACI graphical user interface to configure an actual ACI fabric using policy.

The training includes a complete overview of Cisco ACI Policy constructs and how they can provide for an agile, responsive network architecture, including an in-depth discussion of ACI integration with existing network architecture.

Through our hands-on labs, you will:

  • Step through the initialization of an ACI Fabric
  • Complete the ACI Fabric registration process
  • Tour through the APIC Graphical User Interface
  • Integrate VMware vSphere with the ACI Fabric
  • Create your own ACI tenant on the fabric using network policy constructs
  • Provide application communication using Policies, Filters and Contracts
  • Deploy a 3-Tier Application Profile into your ACI tenant
  • Integrate ACI with an external L3 network
