AWS Storage Gateway - File Gateway

1 Launch
Solution Overview
File Gateway is a configuration of the AWS Storage Gateway service that provides your applications a file interface to store files as objects in Amazon S3 and access them. Local applications also benefit from a low-latency local cache of frequently used content. The result is tiered hybrid cloud content storage, which can be accessed easily by on-premises applications via NFS or SMB.

The file gateway’s SMB and NFS interfaces provide an ideal way for IT groups to simply transition their backup jobs to the cloud. Backup applications, native database tools or scripts that can write to SMB or NFS can write to the file gateway, which will store the backups as Amazon S3 objects.

Goals & Objectives

This Lab is designed to move a SQL backup file to a NFS share, that is shared by a Storage Gateway, and upload into S3.

In this lab you will experience:
  • Storage Gateway for File
  • SQL Backup to SMB Share
  • Data Migration to S3
  • CloudWatch Metrics
