Solution Overview
Cisco Unified Communications software provides the foundation components of all Cisco voice, video, and omnichannel systems. The Session Manager Edition version of Call Manager software provides the ability to scale the Cisco UC system globally and provide connectivity to legacy systems. Learn how to scale your UC system and configure a working system in this 4-hour hands-on lab exercise.

Once the lab is configured, the student has a safe space to test additional features, dial plan changes and other functions that they may not otherwise be able to test in a production environment. 

Anyone who installs, configures or maintains a Cisco Unified Communications environment will benefit from this on-demand lab.

Goals & Objectives

This technical lab provides a step-by step guide to lead the student through the configuration steps necessary to configure a multiple cluster Cisco Unified Communications System.  Start taking calls and perform instant messaging in a simulated coast-to-coast Cisco Unified Communications system.  This lab allows the student to start with a just installed image file and have a configured, working system in hours. 

The student performs the following activities:
  • Configuring active services in Cisco Session Manager Edition Call Manager
  • Licensing of Cisco Session Manager Edition Call Manager
  • Base configuration of Cisco Session Manager Edition Call Manager
  • Creating SIP Trunks between clusters
  • Route Plan Creation 
  • Testing cross-cluster connectivity
  • Configuring Centralized Unity Connection Voicemail
  • Testing voicemail connectivity
  • Configuring Intercluster Lookup Service and Global Dial Plan Replication
  • Creating a dynamic Dial Plan 
  • Testing Global Dial Plan Replication
