WWT Among First to Integrate New Processor Family, Sees Huge Potential for NFV Applications

St. Louis, MO July 11, 2017 —  World Wide Technology (WWT), a leading integrator that provides innovative technology and supply chain solutions to large public and private organizations, today announced it has included the new Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors into the WWT Advanced Technology Center (ATC) based off an early release. This addition gives WWT’s customers an opportunity to test, and roll out data center solutions powered by the new processor immediately.

Scott Miller, senior director of data center at World Wide Technology said: “We received an early release of servers built on the brand-new Intel Xeon Scalable processors within our ATC lab to begin testing, which has allowed our engineers to get hands-on experience and unlock the advantages of Intel’s latest technologies.”

David Ownby, practice manager for service provider solutions architecture at World Wide Technology, said: “We believe that this new platform offers tremendous potential, especially for Network Function Virtualization (NFV) applications where the power and scalability of the Intel Xeon Scalable platform provide an alternative to traditional dedicated hardware appliances.”

Jennifer Huffstetler, senior director of data center product management at Intel, said: “Intel is advancing the latest in data center solutions, tackling some of the most demanding problems for the world’s largest enterprises. WWT’s integration capabilities coupled with the Intel Xeon Scalable processor, has the flexibility to power everything, from common applications and mission critical cloud solutions, to harnessing actionable insights from advanced real-time analytics, or emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence.”

WWT’s ATC is a collaborative ecosystem where enterprises and partners can design, build, educate, demonstrate and deploy innovative technologies in their IT landscape. It is a fully scalable environment made up of pre-configured components, workshops, advisory services, and training sessions; all available live or via an online portal to customers anywhere in the world. Any real or proposed sandbox scenario can be tested through the facilities eliminating the risk, uncertainty and complexity often associated when implementing new technology.
