Denver Office Celebrates Green Achievement with Awards Ceremony

Denver, CO – September 5, 2018 – World Wide Technology (WWT), a market-leading, minority-owned technology solution provider, today announced that their Denver office has completed all of the qualifications to become a Certified Green Business through the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment's business sustainability program, Certifiably Green Denver (CGD). CGD assists businesses in decreasing their environmental footprint all while improving efficiency and profitability. The City of Denver officially presented the CGD certification to WWT's Green Team last week.

"Denver is committed to sustainability and promoting green initiatives in all our businesses, and I'm proud of WWT for implementing these practices so quickly," said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. "We look forward to working together with WWT in the coming years to maintain their Certifiably Green Business designation, and spread the initiative to other businesses."

WWT is consistently ranked as one of the best companies to work for, and the sustainability efforts contribute to those results. WWT Denver has achieved full certification by meeting the requirements in five areas: energy efficiency, water conservation, resource management, alternative transportation and business management. Some of the business practices changed and improved for certification included educating employees about what items are recyclable, implementing the use of disposable green products, and putting appliances on power strips that have timers to cut down on energy consumption. These improvements build on existing WWT practices such as the use of motion sensor lighting and programmable thermostats, an electronics recycling program, and a Day of Caring/community involvement to meet the qualifications for the certification.

"We are thrilled with the initiative the Denver office has shown to activate on WWT's core values to help the city of Denver achieve their sustainability goals and find opportunities to conserve resources," said Ann Marr, Vice President of Global Human Resources, WWT. "WWT Denver's Green Team looks forward to maintaining this designation for the office and continuing to find ways to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the office."

To reflect this achievement WWT Denver Green Team has updated their mission statement to:

In keeping with WWTs Core Values and Colorado's forward-thinking culture, and to help preserve a livable world for ourselves and posterity, the WWT Denver office is committed to achieving and maintaining the Certifiably Green Business designation. This is accomplished by annually reviewing, assessing, and meeting requirements of the city of Denver, promoting Green Initiatives in the Office, and choosing sustainable options wherever possible.
