Uncover hidden insights, maximize possibilities

Many organizations are struggling to understand just what big data is and how to best harness it. Data is exploding at an exponential rate and data sources are increasingly complex and varied, including a massive influx of data generated by mobile devices, social media, click streams, machines, applications and more. Leading companies are endeavoring to manage and leverage both structured and unstructured data, via advanced analytics, to gain new insights, and find anomalies, correlations and answers to a wide array of questions that drive front-line decision making and transform the business. To do this effectively, companies need to deploy new technologies that uniquely suit their business use cases. World Wide Technology (WWT) developed its Big Data Workshop to facilitate this process by helping customers better understand how their organizations can utilize emerging technology to benefit from, rather than be overwhelmed by, big data.

During a Big Data Workshop, WWT experts will share insights and use cases from organizations that have tackled big data challenges successfully. We will define and explore the different types of data now classified as big data. We will also examine the benefits of and differences between available big data tools, such as Hadoop, along with the pros and cons of multiple big data architectures. Each Big Data Workshop is customized based on your organization’s current level of knowledge of big data and addresses your strategic and technical goals aligned around big data. Whether you are new to the subject, or have a good understanding of available technology and are ready to take the next step, this workshop can help your organization better understand, manage and leverage big data effectively.

The WWT Big Data Workshop is a two- to four-hour technical and strategic whiteboard session designed to increase your understanding of Big Data and help you outline your strategy for using Big Data analytics solutions to add value. Attendees will work with WWT experts to develop specific use cases and better understand available solutions, their architectural differences and the specific benefits each provides.

  1. Explore big data use case scenarios and solutions
  2. Understand how to combine structured and unstructured big data for driving powerful insights
  3. Examine big data analytics tools
  4. Dissect big data architectures
  5. Address technical and strategic goals around big data

  • Image Classification of Race Cars

In this paper we explore the use of artificial intelligence to perform an image sorting task to gain a competitive edge in a NASCAR race.
  • Leveraging Neural Network Autoencoders and K-Means Clustering to Segment Energy Consumers Based on Meter Reading Data

Leveraging data collected by smart meters, we can better understand how consumers use electricity by clustering customers according to usage patterns.
  • Recommendation Engine: ATC Connect

A hybrid recommendation engine was built for recommending relevant articles to the users of the WWT ATC Connect mobile application.
  • Deep Learning with NVIDIA DGX-1

We have highlighted some practical considerations for the Deep Learning practitioner relevant to neural network training on the NVIDIA DGX-1. Benchmarking experiments showed that GPU performance is related to three dimensions.
  • Machine Learning for Shovel Tooth Failure Detection

Current computer vision-based methods for identifying broken teeth on mining shovels suffer from a prohibitively high false positive rate (FPR). We describe a two-stage methodology for the detection of broken teeth that reduces the FPR.

  • FlexPod Outperforms JBOD for Hadoop at Scale

This white paper explores the FlexPod Select architecture for Hadoop versus JBOD (“Just a Bunch of Disks”) architecture from both a technical and financial perspective.
  • A Flexible Approach to Deploying SAP HANA

Software designed to capture and analyze big data can help your team quickly respond to new challenges and improve processes throughout your operations. Today, many organizations are looking to SAP HANA® to analyze data in real time. This white paper discuses the efficiencies of the SAP HANA® platform and how WWT can help with your deployment decisions.
