Facilities Infrastructure Cabling Workshop

4 hours
Data centers house a number of interconnected, bandwidth-intensive devices: bladed servers, clustered storage systems, virtualization appliances and backup devices. A reliable, scale-able and manageable cabling infrastructure ensures these devices deliver the highest performance and flexibility. With proper structured cabling, organizations gain better voice, data, video, wireless, mobility, security and connectivity capabilities across the enterprise.
But the deployment and management of a data center’s cabling system needs to be carefully considered as it can impact other aspects of the facilities infrastructure. Heat generated from increased server densities and higher speed network equipment can cause cooling problems. Poor cabling can interfere with maintaining adequate airflow in the room, underfloor and overhead plenums.
This Facilities Infrastructure Cabling Workshop will demonstrate how our prescribed methodology helps organizations capitalize on infrastructure technology, regardless of the specific IT solution. You’ll see firsthand how WWT’s pragmatic approach addressing people, process and architecture increases business agility.

What to Expect

Our Facilities Infrastructure Cabling workshop is a two- to four-hour session focused around today’s structured cabling and cable management challenges.  These sessions are intended to level‐set your day-to-day challenges with “cabling infrastructure” and provide strategic insight on how to execute effectively using WWT’s facilities practice methodology. You will also gain an understanding of the services that WWT provides to support the evolution of your data center, including pre‐ and post‐sales assessments, technology integration, packaged solutions, customized enterprise‐grade procurement outsourcing and professional deployments.
Practical recommendations for effective cabling and cable management solutions addressed by adaptability, availability, maintainability, manageability and cost. Along with the right cabling methodology and adherence to TIA/ISO cabling standards, these cabling solutions will outlive most network components.
This workshop is a collaborative session that resets common marketplace perspectives with cable and cable management solutions, converged infrastructure, accelerated deployments and capabilities assessment methodology. In addition, we will help you identify company specific business agility drivers and obtain organizational buy‐in and funding for these key IT initiatives.
  • 1. Design your data center cabling infrastructure visually.
  • 2. Document cabling installation.
  • 3. Validate your connections.
  • 4. Leverage data to keep track of your data center connectivity capacity.
  • 5. Plan for now and the future.

This workshop gives your organization the opportunity to discuss cabling challenges faced in the data center, as well as IT goals and requirements with WWT’s certified experts and Technical Solution Architects (TSAs).
Whether implementing, upgrading or maintaining your cabling infrastructure, WWT designs standards-based cabling infrastructure for applications, from a single telecommunications closet to a complex global infrastructure. We employ BICSI-Registered Communication Distribution Designers (RCDD) to support our design process and adhere to requirements of strategic, certified installation partners.
Attendees will obtain a clear understanding of WWT’s proven facilities infrastructure data center methodologies and capabilities. We will level‐set expectations for high-density intelligent cabling solutions as well as address the challenges and opportunities regarding converged infrastructure. A follow‐up high‐level action plan may be provided in written format.
