Solution overview

The lab aims to provide users with an understanding of how to enhance the security posture of APIs using Akamai's API Security and F5's BIG-IP solutions. The combination of these two powerful technologies ensures robust protection against common API vulnerabilities and attacks while optimizing performance and scalability. These labs will showcase the practical use cases that illustrate how organizations can benefit from the combined power of Akamai's API Security and F5's BIG-IP in securing their APIs against evolving threats.

Goals and objectives

We'll demonstrate how to integrate Akamai's API Security with F5's BIG-IP to create a comprehensive security solution.

Participants will understand how Akamai and F5 technologies complement each other, enhancing overall security, performance and scalability.

Module 1 is an overview of the lab environment allowing the user to understand the layout of the lab and get use to the lab environment.
Module 2 will get the user comfortable with the Akamai API Security portal. They will get familiar with various parts of the portal, where to look up alerts, configure webhooks and integrations, tagging and more in an prefilled environment.
Module 3 will get the user into their own API Security lab. They will be guided through launching multiple attacks against the industry standard vulnerable API, VAmPi, allowing the user to see first hand how the attacks are done and what those attacks look like live in the Akamai API Security portal. The user is encouraged to experiment in the lab as well. At the end of the lab the user is given information on how to get the code for some of the lab via github.

These labs will showcase the practical use cases that illustrate how organizations can benefit from the combined power of Akamai's API Security and F5's BIG-IP in securing their APIs against evolving threats.
