BGP Filtering

Foundations Lab

Solution overview

In this lab, we will explore the intricacies of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) filtering to manage network traffic and ensure secure and efficient routing. Participants will gain hands-on experience with implementing route-maps, which are used to control route advertisement and acceptance based on specific criteria. Additionally, the lab will delve into the creation and application of prefix-lists, allowing for the filtering of routes based on network prefixes to provide more granular control than standard access lists. A small focus will also be placed on regex (regular expression) filtering, a powerful tool within BGP that permits the matching of route patterns, enabling participants to manipulate and filter routes with high precision. Through these exercises, participants will not only learn to configure and apply these filtering mechanisms in a BGP environment but also understand their practical applications in real-world network management scenarios.
