Solution Overview
Object-based Storage is a compute storage architecture that delivers data as objects with metadata, instead of traditional file and block storage. Cloudian HyperStore is a geo-distributed solution capable of scaling to exabyte sizes, in order to support all of your object needs. Additionally, Cloudian integrates with VMware vCloud Director and Backup products such as Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik, Dell EMC, and more to deliver Backup as a Service.

VMware vCloud Director (vCD) is installed within a VMware vSphere environment backed by NSX-T Datacenter and Cisco hardware. Utilizing this combination, Cloud Service Providers can use vCD to offer a choice on how tenants and applications are managed and deliver virtual network functions (VNFs) using VMware vCloud NFV Architecture.

Goals & Objectives

The goal of this lab is to review the components behind object based storage in VMware vCloud Director. Users who access this lab will connect with the Cloudian HyperStore interface to view S3 bucket management and analytics. They'll also review the VMware Object Storage Extension via vCloud Director's Tenant user interface, while having the opportunity to create new buckets and upload new objects.

For complete step-by-step instructions for completing the lab, see the Lab Environment Guide.
