Storage Fundamentals: Hands-On Lab

The Storage Fundamentals lab provides a hands-on experience for creating storage volumes, assigning capacity and configuring access controls on a storage array. The lab covers essential tasks such as accessing the storage array, creating volumes, mapping volumes to hosts, discovering targets on a Windows host, initializing and formatting disks, and creating file shares with export policies. Participants will also learn about implementing snapshots for data protection and recovery.

The goal of the Storage Fundamentals lab is to provide participants with hands-on experience and knowledge in provisioning storage resources in enterprise storage environments. These are the core objectives:

1. Understand the fundamentals of block storage provisioning and mapping in enterprise storage environments.
2. Gain hands-on experience in creating storage volumes and assigning capacity on a storage array.
3. Learn how to configure access controls and map storage volumes to hosts.
4. Familiarize yourself with the process of discovering targets on a Windows host and initializing/formating disks.
5. Learn how to create file shares with export policies for efficient data sharing and access.
6. Explore the implementation of snapshots for data protection and recovery purposes.
7. Enhance your overall understanding of storage infrastructure and its role in enterprise environments.

In this lab you will have access to the following components running in our Advanced Technology Center:

• 1 x Windows Server (Running Active Directory Services, this will also be your lab desktop)
• 1 x Storage Array Simulator
