WWT has partnered with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) and Cisco to develop a converged transport solution aimed at utility organizations. This partnership was showcased at the DistribuTECH International conference. The solution leverages SEL's Integrated Communications Optical Network (ICON), a WAN multiplexer designed for industrial and utility applications, which supports both Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Ethernet transport options. This convergence allows for a seamless migration from legacy TDM technologies to modern converged IT/OT (Information Technology/Operational Technology) packet-based solutions, enhancing efficiency, dependability, and flexibility for future needs in the utility sector.
