At World Wide Technology (WWT), "Make A New World Happen" isn't just about driving innovation in technology and business. It extends to the communities where we work and live, where we strive to make a positive impact. In India, through the efforts of WWT's Global Community Impact program and the local WWT ABLE Employee Resource Group (ERG), we've partnered with the NGO Silver Lining to sponsor the education of 17 blind girls, ensuring that students of all abilities, including those who are blind, can aspire to fulfilling futures.

Education is the cornerstone of opportunity, and the WWT Global Community Impact program allows us to help build stronger communities through career readiness, human services, and wellness. In India, this has translated into meaningful investments in education, skill development, and support for disadvantaged youth. For the past two years, the joint initiative between WWT ABLE ERG and Silver Lining has enabled these inspiring young girls to pursue their academic dreams. These young students now have access to quality learning resources, mentorship, and the encouragement they need to thrive. The sponsorship extends beyond textbooks—it's about fostering self-confidence, independence, and the belief that every child deserves a chance to excel.

WWT supported the blind students of Silver Lining in achieving their dreams and being honored by the Prime Minister and President of India.
Pallavi Adhikari meets the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi

Among the sponsored students is Pallavi Adhikari. While not born blind, at age 11, Pallavi was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Though surgery saved her life, it resulted in complete vision loss.  With the support of her family and Silver Lining, she has been able to continue her education with passion and resilience. Pallavi has excelled academically, and she even independently wrote her 12th CBSE Board examinations and excelled with outstanding results, earning top honors in her school and becoming a role model for her peers.

Her achievements did not go unnoticed. Pallavi's dedication and remarkable success were recognized at the highest levels as she was invited to a reception hosted by the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This recognition is a testament to her hard work and the power of what is possible when accessibility is present in an educational journey. Pallavi's journey illustrates that dreams can be realized with the right encouragement and resources.

The collaboration between WWT India and Silver Lining is a shining example of what can be achieved when organizations join forces for a greater purpose. By giving back to the community, championing education, and telling the story of students like Pallavi, we affirm our belief in the potential of every child. As we celebrate these successes, we can continue to Make A New World Happen
