Why is DAAnE needed?

Many organizations' transformation initiatives are doomed to fail before they start because of unexpected consequences stemming from apparently disconnected actions or decisions. These organizations lack a complete understanding of their environments and the dependencies that exist within them.

WWT uses our proprietary Data Aggregation & Analysis Engine (DAAnE) to help organizations begin transformation initiatives with a crystal-clear understanding of their application ecosystem and how it will react when things start changing.

Work smarter at the beginning to move faster the rest of the way.

The network never lies

But its truths are sometimes hidden beneath the surface. Speed to market is critical. But so is getting there safely.

Modern enterprise applications are intrinsically linked to one another through workloads and other systems. When one link fails, the entire chain can be compromised and cause catastrophic repercussions to digital transformation initiatives and their stakeholders.

How can you feel confident in your ability to undertake transformation if you aren't sure you're seeing the opportunity from every alternative and angle?

DAAnE aggregates disparate data sources, including human knowledge, and harmonizes them to give you true visibility into your application and asset portfolio. It gives our customers the clearest understanding of their true starting point so they can start turning data into insight and action.

Stop trying to make sense of the proverbial spaghetti bowl of apps and services your business relies on and start demanding a clean, clear view of how your business actually works.

Outcomes and benefits

Optimize Costs: Reduce operating budget while gaining organizational buy-in to improve or drive new digital initiatives by gaining true visibility into your application and asset portfolio.

Accelerate M&A activities: Quickly establish new IT architecture and operating models that streamline mergers or acquisitions while determining how to fit the scope of the integration into your budget and timeline.

Reduce risk: Understand the cyber risks and exposure you have and produce security controls that mitigate with via a dynamic view of your entire ecosystem that evolves as your business grows.

Drive revenue growth: Keep up with demand to bring new innovative capabilities, tools and services to market — both internally and externally — by avoiding uninformed, last minute decisions and simplifying application and asset complexity.

Use cases

Data center transformation: Make sure nothing is broken or negatively impacted during migration to avoid unexpected issues throughout the journey.

Cloud transformation: Know what your application profile will look like before it lands in the cloud. Take full advantage of cloud technologies while staying true to your enterprise architecture.

Security and segmentation: Ensure applications function properly in a segmented environment by uncovering important technical and non-technical data that must be rationalized.

Application rationalization: Enable continuous deployments into any environment by understanding how applications can be refactored or can leverage Infrastructure as Code.

How it works

venn diagram daane aggregating CMDBs

Configuration Management Database (CMDB) products aren't enough.

At best, if they are even available, CMDBs fall well short of 100 percent accuracy. Nor do they fully bridge the gap between reality and theory or take into account future plans for an application or workload.

DAAnE aggregates any CMDB and network telemetry data sources and pairs it with institutional knowledge to give you an unbiased view of your reality to give you the confidence needed to move forward on a transformational undertaking.

  • Static configuration: Data from existing systems of record repositories that identify available assets.
  • Dynamic relationships: Data from IT and OT traffic flows that identify application tether points.
  • Human intel: Uncovered insights to establish an understanding of the function and fit of operational systems.

Case studies

Improve security posture as they digitize the business

One of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers needed to make sure its dozens of disparate R&D facilities were secure as it sought to become a more digital, agile organization. The customer's plants made products that consumers rely on every day so production disruption was not an option. DAAnE provided a clear understanding of assets and applications and how they depended on one another, which helped effectively cut in half the project timeline.

Accelerate cloud migration and optimize costs

One of the largest U.S. healthcare organizations with over 2,000 applications in their technology estate sought to shrink its $1 billion operating budget by migrating workloads to the cloud. Having grown significantly through M&A, disparate data sources were a major obstacle. DAAnE helped rationalize assets, calculate costs and produce total cost of ownership so that the organization could make the business case to continue migration.
