At WWT, we don't just talk about building the future of technology.  We invite it through our doors. Over the past few months, we've been busy welcoming young people into the world of tech through hands-on, confidence‑building experiences designed to spark curiosity, unlock potential, and show what's possible. Here's a look at how we're investing early, intentionally, and inclusively in the next generation of talent.

Work Experience Week – St Matthew's Academy (Lewisham)

Our London office recently buzzed with fresh energy as we hosted Year 10 students from St Matthew's Academy for an in‑office work experience week—and they did not disappoint.

The week was designed around:

  • Confidence‑building
  • Employability skills
  • Real exposure to careers in technology

Students had the chance to meet WWT employees, ask candid questions, and see first‑hand what an inclusive, people‑first tech culture looks like. Their feedback spoke volumes—highlighting not just what they learned, but how welcome and supported they felt throughout the week.

For many, this was their first experience inside a global technology organization. For us, it was a powerful reminder that early exposure can be truly transformational.

Digital Software Development T‑Levels – Industry Placement (WWT & Cisco)

In partnership with Cisco, we delivered a high‑impact, three‑week industry placement for Digital Software Development T‑Level students—and the collaboration couldn't have been stronger.

Here's what made it special:

  • 6 students placed with WWT, 16 with Cisco
  • A blend of in‑person and virtual sessions
  • All 24 students visiting the WWT office together for joint presentations
  • Clear visibility into the Cisco–WWT partnership and real‑world career pathways
  • A guided visit to Cisco's office, bringing the ecosystem to life

And this is just the beginning.

The students will return in November for a second three‑week placement, and in the meantime, they've each been matched with WWT mentors who will support them, answer questions, and help them navigate the path ahead. This sustained engagement is where learning turns into momentum.

Discover Tech – Pilot Programme

We're also proud to be a founding partner of Discover Tech, a two‑day pilot programme delivered alongside Cisco, IBM, Accenture, and Adobe.

Discover Tech is all about opening doors and introducing young people to technology careers they may never have considered, with a strong focus on increasing female participation in tech. As a founding partner, WWT played a key role in shaping the experience and standing visibly alongside industry leaders to champion inclusive early‑talent development.

This pilot marked an important step toward scalable, cross‑industry collaboration and positioned WWT as a clear leader in creating access and opportunity.

Why This Matters

Taken together, these programmes do more than deliver great experiences. They create lasting impact.

They:

  • Strengthen WWT's early‑career talent pipeline
  • Deepen strategic partnerships, especially with Cisco
  • Demonstrate real, measurable social impact
  • Emphasize mentorship, sustained engagement, and scalability

Most importantly, they show young people that there is a place for them in technology and that WWT is a place where they can belong, grow, and thrive.

The future of tech is bright. And at WWT, we're helping build it one experience at a time.
