In this case study

Consumers are more digitally savvy than ever, using a variety of channels — both digital and physical — to get what they want. For Little Caesars, this led to inefficiency at the heart of their operation.

WWT and Little Caesars worked collaboratively to completely transform their kitchen with a cloud-native point-of-sale system that increased operational efficiency, integrated a framework for easily integrating delivery and other 3rd party services, enabled advanced analytics to drive business performance, scaled the system to international regions and fostered employee satisfaction.

The goal wasn't to simply bring Little Caesars up to speed with the market. The goal was to outpace the market and maintain that gap moving forward. We leveraged a human-centered approach to make onboarding and training easier and embraced data so the system could evolve the Little Caesars' patented Hot-N-Ready promise through cloud-based data and analytics and deepen their competitive capabilities by more easily integrating third-party delivery providers.

By incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), we were able to give each store a dynamic forecast — adjusted for historical patterns, real-time events and up-to-the-minute anomalies — for how many pizzas to make and when.

  • Intuitive and delightful for seasoned and new employees
  • Predictive analytics to make a generational leap
  • Dynamic inventory and quality control
  • Intelligent order slotting and customer promise time
  • Seamless integration with delivery and third-party systems
  • Secure, resilient and future-proof

Outcomes and benefits

Scalable to quickly bring on new locations: With a presence in nearly 30 countries — a footprint that continues to grow — Little Caesars needed a solution that could scale to meet their aspirations of growing globally. Our fully configurable framework allows for seamless international expansion as new franchisees are onboarded.

Hot-N-Ready — no matter what: As customer needs shifted dramatically from COVID-19, we integrated with leading third-party delivery partners, along with a scalable framework to easily add/configure new partners and international capabilities.

Industry-leading results: The domestic and international rollout of CV Cloud is underway, receiving high marks and recognition from both operators and in the industry. At the 2021 MURTEC Executive Summit, Little Caesars received the featured award of the conference, Breakthrough Award for Enterprise Innovator!

How we did it

With over 30 years of experience helping the world's largest companies and government entities, we've learned digital transformation and IT modernization thrive in the space between:

strategy and execution; business and technology; physical and digital

Our deep domain expertise cuts across business and technology. Our ability to extensively test solutions and deploy them at scale allows us to both advise and execute to create new realities for our customers. Here's how we did it for Little Caesars:

We slinged pies before we scribed code

We worked the Friday night rush and busy lunch hours and built relationships with franchisee groups before we started getting into the details of how we could solve their most pressing challenges. We ditched the traditional POS approach and leaned into a mobile app experience to build dashboards that focused on usability.

We baked in Little Caesars' vision

Little Caesars' vision is to be an unmatched leader in value, quality, service and convenience. We made sure our work reflected those principles. When we started, lowering the cost of training new employees was a top priority. When we finished, Little Caesars was able to ditch in-person training and provide it virtually because the app was intuitive and easy to learn.

We considered the customer of the future

Little Caesars' Hot-N-Ready business model demands speed and quality. Its legacy systems were not built to accomplish that in the digital age. As Little Caesars grows its percentage of digital orders, we designed a system to help kitchen staff understand exactly what the customer wants and when they want it.
