Enterprise Networking for Test Centers
Design
Using a common architecture with common core components and design will enhance flexibility, create a common knowledge base, and ensure maximum reuse across test centers. We identified three major areas of technology that will help achieve the goals of the TENM program:
- Using a wireless technology for flexible, mobile capability to move a high volume of data from onboard video and sensors to a higher-speed node
- Collect data from the mobile nodes to a more stationary system with a much greater capacity to move the data to the test center
- Optimize the entire test network from components of the data center all the way down to ensure reliability
Goals
The objective of a test event is to collect data for analysis. Achievement of this objective involves pulling data from the tested devices, transporting that data to the Test Center, and then storing and processing the data. This activity typically requires transmitting from the tested device to a hub or node, high-speed transport from this collection point to the Test Center, and then rapid storage of the data at the center.
The overarching goal of an enterprise network modernization program is to modernize all of the technologies involved in this data process to achieve the following objectives:
- Increase bandwidth across the entire network
- Provide scalable and portable solutions
- Ensure Cyber compliance
- Reduce lifecycle ownership costs
