Solution Overview

Cisco Evolved Programmable Network Manager (EPNM) is a simplified lifecycle management tool for carrier networks of all sizes. The solution encompasses operations, administration, provisioning and assurance across core, aggregation, edge and access networks. With powerful capabilities to manage carrier ethernet, optical transport, circuit emulation and more, Cisco EPNM provides end-to-end management of routed, optical and converged multi-layer networks.

This lab is designed to introduce you to Cisco EPNM and then provide one or more advanced learning paths that you can choose from: Routing (Layer 2/3), Optical (Layer 1), and Converged Multi-Layer Transport. After completing the introduction, you are free to perform any or all of the more advanced topics as you see fit. The lab has been constructed such that no topic is dependent upon completion of another.

Goals & Objectives

The goal of this lab is to familiarize the user with Cisco EPNM and to execute workflows including routing and optical network tasks. By the end of the lab, the user should have a good understanding of what EPNM is, how it works and what its capabilities are in managing carrier networks.

    • Provisioning EVPL circuit

    • Provisioning OCHCC WSON Circuits
    • Provisioning OCHNC WSON Circuits
    • Multilayer Trace
    • Managing the network

Hardware & Software

This lab environment consists of EPNM (version 3.0.2.0). Access to the EPNM web interface is provided via a Windows 10 jumpbox. The managed network consists of the following devices:

  • 3x ASR-9001
  • 3x NCS-2006
