Mission Briefing: Protecting Kubernetes Workloads with Veeam Kasten

Solution overview

This lab walks through a complete, first introduction to Veeam Kasten end-to-end. You'll start by deploying Asteroid Mining with Helm so there is something for Veeam Kasten to protect, then play the game far enough to generate a real piece of data — a submitted high score. From there, you'll explore the dashboard to see how Veeam Kasten represents that application, then build a policy that automatically takes a backup on a schedule and run it once by hand. To prove the safety net actually works, you'll delete that high score directly from the database, restore the application from the backup you just took, and confirm the deleted data comes back. Along the way you'll check in on Alerts, and finally look at features that go beyond today's lab — Location Profiles (which you'll actually create, to see how Veeam Kasten reaches external storage) and Blueprints and Transform Sets (which you'll read about, to know they exist for when you need them).

By the end of the lab you will have gone from an empty namespace to a protected, restorable application — and you'll have watched real deleted data come back from a real backup, not just taken it on faith.
