Spot It and Stop It: Deepfake Response Challenge Lab
Solution overview
The Spot It and Stop It: Deepfake Response Challenge Lab puts you inside Northstar, a fictional company, to practice responding to requests that use AI-generated voice, video and documents. You work four incidents in a simulated corporate workspace with chat, email, phone calls, a company directory, business applications and security tools. Each incident gives you a different role and a request you have to decide on. Some are deepfake attacks, and one is a genuine request that only looks suspicious.
The four incidents are:
- Account Recovery: as a Service Desk analyst, you take a phone call from an executive who wants MFA removed from her account before a meeting.
- Executive Payment: in Accounts Payable, the CFO messages you, pulls you onto a video call and pushes for an urgent wire transfer.
- Confidential Business Request: in Legal Operations, the General Counsel leaves you a voice message asking for a restricted board briefing to be shared with outside counsel.
- Identity Verification: in People Operations, you review a new hire's day-one ID and selfie before her account goes live and her laptop ships.
Detection tools in the workspace give scores but never a verdict, and some of their results are misleading. You succeed by verifying requests through trusted, independent channels, following company procedure and documenting what you did. At the end of each incident, you get a scored review that explains what you did well and what you missed. Free hints are available if you get stuck.
