Jim Kavanaugh took the top spot in the St. Louis Business Journal's most popular contest for the 40 Under 40 class of 1998 after battling it out all week with Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

Kavanaugh was president and COO of World Wide Technology when he was named a 40 Under 40. He co-founded the company in 1990 with David Steward, and it had grown to $140 million in revenue by 1998.

Today, Kavanaugh is CEO of World Wide Technology, which ranks as St. Louis' second-largest privately held company with $6.8 billion in revenue last year and 3,000 employees.
