Company makes strategic investment in expanding focus on SLED market

Washington DC, July 17, 2019 – World Wide Technology (WWT), a market-leading technology solution provider, today announced the appointment of Shawn Rodriguez as vice president of state and local government and education (SLED).

Rodriguez joins WWT with more than 20 years of experience in the SLED sector, having previously served in management-level capacities across the IT industry, including time with Forescout, Splunk, NetApp and Nortel. He is a trusted subject matter expert with proven experience as a SLED consultant serving on numerous industry boards and committees.

"Shawn is an experienced and trusted leader in delivering integrated technology solutions," said Bryan Thomas, senior vice president, public sector at WWT. "He has a rooted understanding of our customer base and is an ideal fit for the WWT culture. As WWT makes a strategic focus in the SLED market, he is a tremendous value add in expanding our presence in this space."

WWT's SLED capability area is dedicated to helping state and local governments, as well as educational institutions, implement new technology to improve the lives of citizens and students of today, while developing the communities of tomorrow. The SLED team's experience spans a variety of agency functions and missions, including transportation, health and human services, student success, public safety, administration and information technology.

"I am thrilled to join WWT and bring my experience to a company already known for creating game-changing solutions," said Rodriguez. "My goal is to further expand that mission throughout the SLED industry, delivering efficiencies and cost savings across the board."

To demonstrate the return on investment to potential customers, WWT leverages their St. Louis, MO-based Advanced Technology Center (ATC), and Washington, DC-based Innovation Center, along with their integrated bench of industry experts, to build a proof of concept that best suits specific agency solution requirements—including data centers, automation, cloud, mobility, collaboration, security and big data—allowing customers to visualize and experience the solution in practice.

"We understand our customers' desired outcomes in contrast to the reality of budget constraints," said Rodriguez. "And we are skilled at not just finding the right solutions to meet the SLED market's unique requirements but taking an idea of a need and making it a reality."
