ExaGrid provides Tiered Backup Storage with a unique approach to performance, scalability, security and disaster recovery.

ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage sits seamlessly behind over 25 backup applications, such: Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, NetBackup, HYCU, Oracle RMAN Direct and many others. ExaGrid will also support Cohesity in early 2026.

ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage provides:

ExaGrid offers the only support that assigns a level 2 support engineer to customers, providing senior support and the ability to work with the same support engineer all the time without customers having to repeat themselves.

Through its partnership with WWT, ExaGrid aligns its industry-leading backup performance, scalability, and ransomware recovery with WWT's enterprise modernization initiatives, enabling customers to achieve faster recoveries, stronger resilience, and lower total cost of ownership across every industry.

ExaGrid offers AI-Powered Retention Time-Lock. With the Auto Detect & Guard feature, ExaGrid performs deep learning to detect anomalies in the backup data being sent to the ExaGrid appliance(s) from the backup applications, looking for unusual patterns of backup data deletion and/or modification.  If there is an attack to delete the data, ExaGrid will identify that the delete is outside of the normal operational deletes and will alert the customer's IT team as well as automatically extend the ExaGrid delayed delete policy indefinitely. If it is determined that the delete was an operational delete, then the IT and Security can return the ExaGrid system to the original delayed delete policy. This allows the customer unlimited time to recover from an attack.

Standard Storage is relatively fast for backups and restores, however, does not have any data deduplication so for longer-term backup retention the cost is high due to the amount of storage required. Also, the storage is network-facing and not secure from a cyber attack.

Inline Deduplication appliances perform the deduplication on the way to the appliance, which greatly slows down backup performance. All of the stored data is deduplicated, which results in slow restores as data needs to be rehydrated with each request. The architecture is scale up which only adds disk storage and no other compute resources resulting in backup windows that grow as data grows. The appliances are network-facing make them vulnerable to cyber attacks.
