About Andrew
I started my career as a developer at a moment when the internet was still finding its feet. Nobody had a roadmap. We were building the road.
Over the decades, I've watched and been part of every major wave that followed. Service-oriented architecture changed how we thought about systems. Cloud computing changed where they lived. Mobile-first changed who we were building for. SaaS changed the business model entirely. DevOps, IaC, and platform engineering changed how teams worked together. APIs quietly became the connective tissue of the modern economy. And now, AI.
Along the way I've had the privilege of building startups from scratch using internet-first technologies, shipping software inside the complexity of government, navigating the compliance and stakes of fintech and working everywhere from scrappy small businesses to large, highly regulated and secure global enterprises. Each environment taught me something different about what software is really for.
What I see now is a perfect storm. Every one of those waves: cloud, mobile, SaaS, DevOps, APIs, AI is colliding at once. The result is something genuinely new: businesses that can move at the speed of thought.
Marc Andreessen said "software would eat the world". I still believe that. It just has an assistant now.
