About Christopher
Chris Hetner is a recognized leader in Cybersecurity, known for elevating cyber risk and AI governance to executive and board levels. He aligns Cybersecurity strategies with business goals to create operational resilience. With experience in public companies, critical infrastructure, and SEC oversight, he has succeeded in both corporate and government roles. Currently, he serves as Special Advisor for Cyber Risk for the NACD, Chief Cyber Advisor to World Wide Technology, and holds various board and advisory positions.
Throughout his career, Chris has launched Cybersecurity programs in both public and private sectors, emphasizing enterprise-wide preparedness and continuity. He has served as Senior Cybersecurity Advisor to the SEC Chair and led critical infrastructure resilience efforts across multiple sectors. His contributions include implementing the first agency-wide Cybersecurity governance structure and enhancing threat intelligence and incident response capabilities.
Chris has led global efforts to improve Cybersecurity coordination and has successfully guided teams through transformative thinking about cyber-risk management. He holds certifications as a Certified Information Security Manager and Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and has a high-level USA security clearance. He earned a MS in Information Assurance from Norwich University and a BS in Security Management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
