About David
David L. Stevens leads US Strategic Engagement for World Wide Technology's State, Local, and Education (SLED) practice — serving state CIOs, cabinet officials, and education leaders across the country. As Area Vice President, he directs go-to-market, business development, contract capture, and industry advisory for the segment. David is a member of the Public Sector SLED Executive Leadership Team.
David's work centers on aligning technology strategy to what the customer actually needs to accomplish — and on building diverse teams that make hard problems easier to solve. He has built a bench of senior industry advisors covering K–12, local government, healthcare, mass transportation, AI, and utilities, each showing up to customer conversations with technical depth and operating experience.
Before joining WWT, David led companies and one of the largest government organizations in the country. He served as President of GMI (nVision), Executive Vice President of Valor Global, and Chief Information Officer for Maricopa County, Arizona — the fourth-largest county in the United States, spanning 9,000 square miles and serving a population larger than 23 states combined. At Maricopa County, David managed a $600 million technology portfolio, delivering more than $400 million in capital programs across public safety, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
David has been recognized as a 2026 StateScoop 50 Industry Leadership nominee, named to Constellation Research's Business Transformation 150 — an elite list of global executives leading innovative transformation efforts — and selected by ComputerWorld as a 2015 Premier 100 Leader. He speaks at national conferences, contributes to industry publications, and serves on advisory boards and committees shaping public sector technology policy.
David holds security clearance with the FBI through the Department of Justice and completed the Center for Asymmetric Warfare FBI Information Sharing program at the Naval Postgraduate School. A native of Arizona and a United States Army veteran, he is active in community service and continues to invest in the next generation of public sector technology leaders.
