About Martin
As a seasoned cybersecurity executive, I specialize in building robust security organizations that not only protect but also drive revenue and innovation. My leadership at Lumen Technologies marked two significant chapters of growth. From 2022 to 2024, I served as Vice President of Cybersecurity Technology & Services, managing a portfolio exceeding $200 million and leading a team of over 300 professionals. My focus on threat intelligence, DDoS, SASE/SSE, SD-WAN, managed security, and professional services supported over 2,600 clients, resulting in a 16% increase in profit margins and the launch of a next-generation proactive threat defense architecture.
In 2024, I assumed leadership of the Black Lotus Security Group, where I spearheaded the commercialization of backbone-level network visibility and AI/ML-driven threat intelligence, achieving a 13% year-over-year revenue growth to $62 million. My team played a pivotal role in disrupting nation-state cyber operations, including the Raptor Train botnet (Flax Typhoon), Volt Typhoon infrastructure, and Salt Typhoon, in collaboration with the FBI, Europol, and USCYBERCOM.
Prior to my tenure at Lumen, I spent a decade at Cisco, where I was instrumental in developing and scaling security platforms such as SecureX, recognized as CRN Security Product of the Year, and Managed Threat Defense. I hold a TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance, CISSP #51778, and a Master of Engineering from NC State. As the author of two O'Reilly books on security monitoring and application defense, I operate at the intersection of product strategy, threat intelligence, and customer trust, transforming security from a cost center into a growth driver.
