Understanding Subnet Masks

Every IPv4 address carries two roles in one number: network and host. This lesson shows how a subnet mask marks that boundary, translating dotted-decimal masks like 255.255.255.0 into binary so you can see exactly which bits identify the network and which identify the host. Build the interpretation skill that sets up CIDR notation and real subnet calculations ahead.
