Organizations do not need to wait for a full deployment decision to make progress. Recommended starting points include:

  • Determining whether operational complexity, rather than raw bandwidth, is the real constraint driving the need for fabric
  • Assessing and documenting the current network environment, including technical debt and dependencies
  • Aligning fabric adoption to specific business outcomes and building an ROI narrative around provisioning time, incident reduction and lifecycle savings
  • Investing in skills development through training, certifications and, where needed, hiring or partnerships
  • Standing up lab or proof-of-concept environments to validate designs before taking on production risk
  • Starting a structured, criteria-driven vendor and platform evaluation rather than defaulting to the incumbent
  • Modernizing adjacent systems, such as identity infrastructure and ITSM platforms, that fabric depends on to enforce policy reliably
