ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis launched the "Spirit of St. Louis AI Innovation Center" Wednesday, a new initiative aimed at using artificial intelligence to address problems in the city and beyond.
Google, Amazon, NVIDIA and World Wide Technology are among the companies backing the center. There is no new building associated with the project. Instead, it is a shared pool of computing power for startups and researchers developing AI solutions.
"We're looking for sort of world-changing ideas. We're looking to do projects that we would coin 'AI for good,'" GeoSTL executive director Mark Munsell said.
GeoSTL serves as the central administrator of the center. It's a St. Louis-based nonprofit organization that serves as the regional backbone for the area's multi-billion-dollar geospatial and artificial intelligence economy.
