AWS Cloud Operations Competency Partner
Achieving the AWS Cloud Operations Competency is a recognition reserved for partners who demonstrate a proven track record of delivering operational excellence across AWS environments. It validates our ability to implement best practices aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework—helping customers adopt automation, streamline resource management, and maintain strong governance at scale.
WWT has earned this recognition by consistently delivering results: reducing operational overhead, improving system reliability, and enabling organizations to focus on innovation while maintaining secure, resilient cloud operations. When you work with WWT, you're working with a partner AWS has validated as a leader in this space.
Our Approach to AWS Cloud Operations
Operational excellence doesn't happen by accident - it's built through disciplined processes, proven architecture, and the right expertise. Our AWS Cloud Operations practice is organized around four core capabilities, each designed to address a distinct dimension of running AWS environments at scale.
Our Cloud Operations methodology is grounded in delivering scalable, secure, and repeatable AWS environments aligned to AWS best practices. We design and implement multi-account AWS organizations using well-architected landing zones—typically leveraging AWS Control Tower and AWS Organizations—to establish clear separation of workloads, strong governance boundaries, and long-term operational scalability.
All infrastructure is deployed using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), most commonly with Terraform, ensuring consistency, version control, and automated lifecycle management across environments. We embed account lifecycle automation, standardized tagging strategies, and GitOps-driven deployment pipelines to support operational excellence, cost transparency, and rapid change while minimizing risk. This approach has been applied across large, complex environments—from public-sector organizations with many autonomous business units to high-growth commercial enterprises requiring standardized, repeatable cloud foundations.
We deliver Cloud Governance solutions that balance security, compliance, and operational agility through automated preventive and detective controls. Our governance framework is built on AWS-native services—including AWS Control Tower, Service Control Policies (SCPs), AWS Config, and centralized logging—enabling customers to enforce guardrails aligned to industry standards and internal policy requirements.
Governance controls are designed collaboratively to reflect regulatory, security, and operational needs, and are deployed as code to ensure consistency and auditability over time. We also guide customers through third-party tooling selection and integration when additional capabilities are required, and support complex scenarios such as account ownership changes due to mergers, acquisitions, or organizational restructuring. This governance-first approach has been successfully implemented in highly regulated environments as well as fast-moving commercial organizations seeking standardized oversight without sacrificing speed.
Our Cloud Financial Management methodology enables customers to plan, measure, optimize, and govern cloud spend with transparency and accountability. We begin with cost planning and forecasting—using historical usage analysis, growth modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) assessments—to establish financially informed cloud strategies before workloads are deployed or expanded.
Cost allocation is achieved through a combination of AWS Organizations, standardized tagging strategies, cost categories, and consolidated reporting to align cloud spend with business units, applications, and funding models. We provide advanced cost reporting and visualization using AWS-native tooling and partner solutions, enabling ongoing variance analysis, showback/chargeback, and executive-level insights. Continuous cost optimization is driven through rightsizing, storage optimization, purchase option optimization (Savings Plans and Reserved Instances), and proactive anomaly detection—supported by repeatable processes and customer enablement to establish sustainable FinOps practices.
Our Monitoring and Observability approach provides end-to-end visibility into infrastructure, applications, and user experience—enabling customers to proactively manage performance and reliability. We design observability architectures that collect and correlate metrics, logs, and traces across AWS control plane activity, infrastructure resources, and application components, using services such as Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS X-Ray, and OpenTelemetry-based solutions.
KPIs and service level objectives (SLOs) are defined in alignment with business outcomes and monitored through centralized dashboards and alerting mechanisms. We support observability for modern application architectures—including containerized and serverless workloads—and integrate security observability and CI/CD pipeline controls to identify risks early. This methodology has been applied across mission-critical public services and high-traffic commercial platforms where real-time insight, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous improvement are essential.
Alignment with the AWS Well-Architected Framework
Our Cloud Operations services are built directly on AWS Well-Architected Framework principles and mapped to each competency category we pursue. The table below illustrates how our capabilities align across all six pillars.
| AWS WellArchitected Pillar | Aligned Cloud Operations Competency Categories | How We Align |
| Operational Excellence | Baseline Cloud Operations – Customer Requirements Monitoring and Observability | Automationfirst delivery using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps practices, defined KPIs, and continuous monitoring to support safe, repeatable operations and ongoing improvement. |
| Security | Cloud Governance Monitoring and Observability | Strong multiaccount foundations, centralized identity and logging, automated preventive and detective controls, and integrated security observability aligned to policy and compliance needs. |
| Reliability | Baseline Cloud Operations – Customer Requirements Monitoring and Observability | Resilient architectures leveraging managed AWS services, multiaccount designs, health monitoring, alerting, and recovery planning to reduce impact from failures. |
| Performance Efficiency | Monitoring and Observability Cloud Financial Management | Continuous measurement of workload performance using metrics, logs, and traces to drive rightsizing, scaling, and architecture optimization. |
| Cost Optimization | Cloud Financial Management | FinOpsdriven cost allocation, forecasting, reporting, and continuous optimization through rightsizing, storage lifecycle management, and purchase option optimization. |
| Sustainability (where applicable) | Baseline Cloud Operations Cloud Financial Management | Reduction of waste through improved utilization, elimination of idle resources, and increased use of managed AWS services that improve efficiency. |
