About Ryan

As a Technical Solutions Architect on the Facilities and Infrastructure team, I work with my WWT teammates to develop innovative power, cooling, space, and cabling solutions for high-density, mission-critical IT environments. I advise on holistic infrastructure designs that align hardware integration, especially power and thermal management, with digital engineering practices to ensure scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency for complex deployments. With power and cooling demands intensifying across AI‑driven data center environments, the need for solutions that improve efficiency throughout the facility ecosystem continues to grow. To address these challenges, I am currently focusing on software‑based infrastructure management capabilities (including DCIM, BMS, and EPMS) to drive better visibility, control, and optimization of critical systems. This work includes developing focused use cases and evaluating multiple platforms to understand how they can streamline operations, enhance energy efficiency, and support more data‑driven decision‑making for complex deployments. Before joining WWT, I served as a US Navy civilian engineer, leading complex C4I/IT systems integration efforts for various shore and tactical platforms. My extensive experience powering and cooling IT solutions in harsh edge environments stems from the unique challenges of tactical platforms. My work encompassed the entire lifecycle from requirements development through fielding and support. Prior to my time with the US Navy, I worked at an electric utility as a relay, SCADA, and distribution engineer. During my tenure with the Navy, I also led teams specializing in digital twins for Navy shore commands, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and applications of AI. My AI experience includes co-developing a textual systems engineering specific benchmark for LLMs, developing a graphical SysML benchmark extension to assess multi-modal LLMs, building various context-aware (RAG) chatbots using open-source LLMs for mission-specific applications, integrating multiple AI agents utilizing an agentic framework for SE applications, and researching ML algorithms to predict machine failure. I hold a BS in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and a MS in Systems Engineering from SMU. I am a registered Professional Engineer in South Carolina, a DoE Data Center Energy Practitioner, and holds multiple systems engineering and OEM certifications.
