Frontier AI Expands, Microsoft CEO Urges 'Emergency Brake,' Anthropic Signals Self-Replication, Wall Street Reacts to Neoclouds
WWT CTO Mike Taylor breaks down the week's biggest enterprise AI headlines, from Anthropic's warning about AI copying itself and Bank of America's patching push to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's call for a kill switch and CoreWeave's debt scrutiny. His answer keeps coming back to trust.
AI is moving faster than the trust built to contain it. That was the through line of this week's Weekly Signal from the AI Proving Ground Pocast as WWT CTO Mike Taylor weighed a run of headlines on security, control and market risk.
The patch surge tops the list. Bank of America is adding 1,000 contractors to keep pace with vulnerabilities uncovered by frontier AI models. Taylor called hiring the stopgap and said organizations not automating patch validation and testing in parallel need to rethink their strategy.
Control comes next. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella called for an emergency brake on AI. Taylor said enterprises can start with their own agents by building in visibility, versioning and the ability to shut them off. Trusting outside agents is harder, and JPMorgan and Amazon are already pulling back.
Even infrastructure raises trust questions. CoreWeave's debt jitters do not break the GPU cloud model, Taylor said, but buyers should choose well-established partners.
