Key takeaways: Dell Technologies is advancing Federal 5G capabilities to empower mission success. They have introduced an on-location Private Wireless Orchestrator on a Dell PowerEdge server for absolute data control in disconnected environments. Dell also launced a new, high-power n79 5G radio for federally-owned spectrum. Together, these innovations create a more secure, flexible and powerful foundation for federal agencies.

Secure, reliable connectivity has always been essential for United States military and federal agencies, enabling operations from command centers to the tactical edge. Earlier this year, Dell Technologies introduced its Federal 5G solution portfolio to help modernize infrastructure and meet operational and compliance needs with mission-ready, 5G networks.

Now, Dell Federal is taking it a step further. The next release of the Dell Federal 5G solution includes an on-location software deployment version of its Private Wireless Orchestrator, and a new Dell-developed high-power n79 5G radio, providing even more control and flexibility for federal deployments. These advancements expand the possibilities for secure, reliable 5G networks in the federal space, ensuring agencies are ready for today's missions and tomorrow's challenges.

Simplified management, flexible deployment

Effective communication networks are built on security and simplicity. Dell Technologies offers two flexible operational models to help you manage and orchestrate your private wireless network, ensuring you have the control you need in any environment.

With Dell's latest release, you can choose the deployment option for the Private Wireless Orchestrator that best meets your agency's requirements:

  1. Centralized Management via Government Cloud: Ideal for government agencies managing multiple installations from a central location (multi-tenancy), this model allows you to manage your 5G network using software located in the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud.
  2. On-Location Management: For agencies that require complete control, especially in disconnected or air-gapped environments, you can now have all software locally resident on-base without needing to connect to the Government cloud. Dell has introduced a new on-location instance of the Private Wireless Orchestrator software, which runs on a Dell PowerEdge XR8610t server sled.

This choice empowers your agency to confidently manage your network with a solution tailored to your specific operational needs, whether you prefer centralized, cloud-based control or complete on-location autonomy.

Why on-location orchestration matters

For federal decision-makers, this option for on-location Private Wireless Orchestrator offers these advantages:

  1. Absolute Data Sovereignty: By localizing the orchestrator, all management data, configurations, and logs remain within your controlled environment. This aligns perfectly with Zero Trust architecture and data sovereignty requirements, ensuring sensitive network information never leaves your secure perimeter.
  2. Operational Independence: In tactical edge scenarios where backhaul to the cloud is intermittent or non-existent, an on-location orchestrator ensures you maintain full administrative control over your 5G network. You can provision new devices, monitor health and adjust configurations without needing to "phone home."
  3. Flexibility: The new on-location version provides unmatched deployment flexibility for government organizations. By offering options to deploy using Microsoft Government Cloud or on-location environments, agencies can tailor their solutions to meet unique operational and regulatory requirements.

Expanding capabilities with the n79 5G Radio

One of the most significant hurdles in deploying wireless networks is spectrum availability and compatibility. To address this, we have expanded our hardware portfolio with the introduction of the high-powered, 4x40W, n79 5G radio.

The new radio supports the n79 frequency band, owned and controlled by the US federal government. In Europe, NATO controls it, and it's available in the Asia-Pacific region. This enables greater flexibility for military and civilian agencies operating globally. This new 5G radio gives them additional independence and flexibility to set up and operate without spectrum constraints or coordination with civilian Mobile Network operators (MNOs).

By integrating the n79 radio into our existing ecosystem, we are providing agencies with:

  • Broader Deployment Options: Whether you are setting up a base domestically or deploying a tactical unit abroad, the new high-power n79 radio, along with the portfolio of low- and mid-power n79 radios, ensures you have the hardware support necessary to establish a reliable network.
  • Enhanced Signal Reliability: Designed for robust performance, this radio maximizes coverage & throughput, critical factors when real-time data transmission impacts decision-making.
  • Seamless Integration: Like our existing low and mid-power n79 radio solutions, the high power n79 radio integrates effortlessly with Dell's broader 5G infrastructure, ensuring that adding new capabilities doesn't mean overhauling your current investment.

This is more than just new hardware; it's about giving you the tools to execute your mission with confidence, knowing your connectivity can move with you.

Driving modernization and mission impact

These enhancements—the n79 radio and on-location orchestration—are part of our broader commitment to delivering secure, integrated and scalable solutions for the federal government. Dell understands that your objectives are measured by mission outcomes, budget accountability and the safety of your personnel.

By simplifying how you manage your network and expanding where you can deploy it, Dell is helping you focus on what really matters: the mission. Whether it's enabling smart warehousing logistics, supporting remote telemedicine on the battlefield, or facilitating real-time AI analytics at the edge, Dell Federal 5G solutions support the backbone of modern government operations.

Dell Federal is not just building networks; its building the foundation for the future of public service. With these new capabilities, we invite you to reimagine how your agency connects, operates and succeeds.
