If you watch the U.S. Open Championship this week, you might catch a glimpse of the World Wide Technology logo.

The Maryland Heights-based company is sponsoring professional golfer Graeme McDowell, winner of the 2010 U.S. Open. The partnership begins with this week’s U.S. Open, according to a tweet from McDowell.

McDowell, 38, said he’s “thrilled to partner with such an innovative tech company.” McDowell is wearing a pullover sweater with the WWT logo in a photo accompanying the tweet.

WWT’s Matt Horner, senior vice president of global enterprise sales, said McDowell’s international status and likability is complimentary to the company's interest in global branding and recognition.

“Our choice of partnering with Graeme McDowell has everything to do with his international appeal, a great match with WWT’s culture, Graeme’s likability and his savviness in using technology with nearly 800,000 digital followers,” Horner said. “Plus, he is a fun guy, a great family man and he’s rapidly rising in the ranks — we are excited to see him close to his top form again.”

The partnership with McDowell will last at least one year and likely longer, according to Horner.
