2023 will be remembered as another year of rapid cloud adoption across industries and enterprises. Most organizations have some cloud presence by now, helping explain why the once-domineering focus on migration has shifted to a collective emphasis on managing costs and optimizing increasingly complex cloud environments.
Last year, we advised organizations to prioritize their strategies and capabilities related to cloud optimization, cloud security, cloud skills gaps and cloud edge. Our priorities for 2024 build off these themes, particularly as the core issues remain important and should be revisited by most organizations on an annual basis.
For 2024, our top priorities are:
- Harnessing the synergistic power of cloud and AI.
- Hardening your cloud data security posture.
- Supercharging cost management with cloud FinOps (and cloud-native development).
- Anticipating how industry clouds might reshape your industry.
We believe now is the time for organizations to understand the relationship between AI and cloud computing. We see cloud data security as an increasingly important means for safeguarding valuable data and ensuring compliance. We believe cost management and optimization gains from 2023 can be deepened by establishing a cloud FinOps practice and embracing cloud-native development. Plus, we think the rise of industry clouds has the potential to reshape cloud investments, solutions and services across many sectors.
