World Wide Technology and Fornetix Selected to Develop IoT Security Solution for Defense Information Systems Agency
Washington, D.C., August 17, 2020--World Wide Technology (WWT), a market-leading technology solution provider, and Fornetix, Inc., an industry pioneer and leader in enterprise encryption key management technology, have been selected by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to develop a prototype of an Internet of Things (IoT) security solution in support of a new Field Deployable Alert Notification System.
This prototype alert system is being modernized to provide more enhanced notification capabilities and will be deployed globally to support mission critical communications activities.
To deliver upon an IoT security solution for this prototype alert system, WWT and Fornetix will develop a highly secure, adaptable, and easily deployable IoT platform that will serve as the foundation for a sensor and alert network, which can be deployed autonomously in the field, while supporting federation back to enterprise notification systems or operation centers.
"The development of this prototype alert system will further demonstrate how federal government agencies can leverage today's newest emerging technologies to create innovative data security solutions, especially when it comes to the ever-evolving needs of the Department of Defense and our national security," said Bryan Thomas, WWT senior vice president of public sector. "We look forward to working with our partners at Fornetix to deliver this capability."
The prototype system will allow connection of enterprise devices as sensors to all classes of users to send emergency alerts or requests for assistance, with the capability of operating autonomously in a mission environment that is isolated from the network.
The prototype solution will utilize the WWT-developed Mobile Field Kit, a unique operations control and threat monitoring system specifically developed to connect with and assist those responsible for public safety; and Fornetix's end-to-end Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) compliant encryption technology. By integrating WWT's and Fornetix's IoT technologies, DISA's standalone system will be able to easily integrate other IoT technologies, including future sensors and alert capabilities, to provide a single platform for mission operation needs.
"The Fornetix team is honored to be selected alongside our partners at WWT to develop innovative IoT security solutions in support of national security," said Chuck White, Fornetix CTO. "We are excited to be supporting WWT to provide these solutions for the Department of Defense."
