WebexOne 2026: Key Takeaways for Collaboration and Digital Workspace
In this blog
Digital workspace and employee experience leaders gathered in Austin, TX, from Oct. 5-8 for WebexOne 2026. AI agents took center stage with a theme of "Agentic, realized." What caught our attention was the groundwork around these agents. Here are our top takeaways.
Rooms are getting easier to plan and deploy
Cisco's Workplace Designer has evolved from a tool for planning individual rooms to one that covers an entire building. Teams can design the network, collaboration rooms and Cisco Spaces outcomes straight from the web, which brings IT networking, IT collaboration and facilities together before deployment starts.
IT and facilities teams can import floor plans and receive automated recommendations for room configurations, wireless and collaboration devices, along with the right SKUs and quantities. Collaboration teams can build the design themselves and take it to the network and facilities teams early, so their requirements are on the table from the start.
The payoff is smarter decisions before deployment and more strategic thinking about how offices are designed, how meeting rooms are equipped and how employees collaborate in different environments. Cisco also demoed room usage analytics that feed historical data into decisions about resizing or redesigning rooms.
Deployment is getting simpler too. The new Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro combines IP connectivity, a single Ethernet cable and AI-powered audio, which simplifies room deployments and delivers a more natural audio experience.
AI is reaching across tools and teams
AI Canvas is meant to help with day-to-day operations. It uses MCP, a standard for connecting AI to tools and data, to manage Cisco's collaboration portfolio and other Cisco technologies, and it can bring in third-party solutions the same way. Where necessary, it falls back on APIs. In a booth demo, Cisco showed how to trace a call end to end, networking devices included, something collaboration-only observability tools can't offer.
AI Canvas and Workplace Designer are now in Cloud Control, which includes all of Cisco's management systems, and Cisco is building AI tools across it. Instead of troubleshooting in silos, different teams can work an issue together and more quickly figure out problems that span Cisco platforms.
AAA was a clear thread through the week: AI, APIs and automation. When a meeting ends, AI writes the summary, APIs push action items into Jira or ServiceNow and automation assigns owners. Device telemetry can even open a ticket before a room fails on someone.
Cisco is meeting customers where they are
Rooms. Cisco's room devices started with Webex and added Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR). Now Zoom and Google Meet are joining them. Native Zoom Rooms support on Cisco hardware reaches general availability in October, and RoomOS 27 adds native Google Meet in November, so one device fleet can run any of the four. The agenda reflected the shift, with a session on troubleshooting Cisco devices across Webex, MTR, Zoom and WebRTC.
We're already seeing this with our clients. For example, a large global bank bought Webex endpoints to run Zoom Rooms. We also still see demand for Cloud Video Interop (CVI), which lets Cisco devices join Microsoft Teams meetings. For IT teams, the hardware decision no longer has to follow the meeting platform decision.
Calling. The same message showed up in calling. Cisco announced Cloud Intelligence for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM), which brings cloud-based AI to existing UCM environments without requiring a move to the cloud. Cisco and WWT partner with leading vendors where it makes sense, including Mutare and Pindrop for high-trust calling and Theta Lake for compliance, which supports a system of record for customer data. These partnerships are increasingly important in defending against fast-evolving voice attacks.
Final thoughts
Our takeaways point to the same place: rooms planned with the network in mind, one view across collaboration and infrastructure, integrations that connect systems and platform choices that stay open. Whatever role AI agents end up playing in the workplace, WebexOne 2026 taught us that those are the pieces worth getting right now.
WWT and Cisco
WWT has been a strategic partner of Cisco's for 35 years. We have a deep bench of expertise on implementing and integrating Cisco technologies for both employee and customer experience, and across the infrastructure stack.
Our cross-industry experience and our AI Proving Ground in the Advanced Technology Center has earned us Partner of the Year awards consecutively across Collaboration and Contact Center, with this year's 2026 accolade of CX Global Partner of the Year and CX Partner of the Year Americas.
