Converged Infrastructure

Converged infrastructure (CI) operates by grouping multiple information technology components into a single optimized package. Components of a converged infrastructure may include servers, storage, and networking infrastructure, along with software for infrastructure management, automation and orchestration.

Organizations use converged infrastructure to centralize the management of infrastructure resources, to consolidate systems, to increase resource-utilization rates, to increase consistency and availability, and to lower costs.

Hyper-converged Infrastructure

Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) can be thought of as a software-centric infrastructure that tightly integrates compute, storage, networking and virtualization resources and other technologies from scratch in a commodity hardware box often times supported by a single vendor.
